I would definitely choose Native Choice

Our family registered for this tour because of the positive reviews that we read. The price was reasonably set and the tour time frame was one that did not cause concern with cutting it too close with the ship's departure schedule.

We submitted or online reservations and everything was handled professionally and quickly. Unfortunately our ship cancelled Costa Maya while we were tied up at the dock due to inclement weather. I was very disappointed because of all the ports we visited I was most looking forward to this one. Native Choice promptly refunded our full deposit which other excursions may not do. I would definitely choose Native Choice if considering an excursion to Chacchoben.

I give their service a 10 out of 10.

A quality organization

I'd like to thank you guys for automatically refunding our deposit because our ship wasn't able to debark in Costa Maya. It really shows that you run a quality organization that your customers can trust.

I will definitely be telling others about your honesty. It was just a shame that we weren't able to attend the tour.

What an incredible tour.

What an incredible tour. Specific instructions as to meeting the shuttle to take you to the office to check in. We had a group of 7 and were shuttled in a van with a running commentary of life and other stories by Jacob. Our guide at the ruins was David, who was able to answer any question about the structures we were seeing and about the life of the ancient people that lived in the area.

We then went on to the lagoon and had a wonderful Mexican lunch complete with margaritas and pina coladas. Israel led us down to the beach and we enjoyed cooling off in the lagoon. Another group took advantage of the kayaks.

Got back to the ship in plenty of time. Even stopped along the road to purchase some of the local cut pineapple with chili. It was delicious!

We would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a day trip to the ruins while you are in Costa Maya.

We loved it and definitely recommend it.

I hope I got the tour name right. We had originally booked the Kohunlich Mayan Ruins tour. We had our group of 10, and there was one other couple. Francisco, our guide, didn't think that we had enough time to do justice to both our chosen tour and theirs. He offered to take us anyways, or to trust him to show us the best of the ruins, in his opinion. We opted to trust him, and were not disappointed. He took us to a site that had several different buildings, some of which we could climb up. He was very knowledgeable in the history of the Mayan people and the ruins as well. He offered much useful and interesting information.

On the way back to the ship he stopped and got us some freshly cut pineapple from some vendors on the street. DELICIOUS. We booked this tour ourselves, because it was a good deal less than through the ship. From start to finish it was easy to find where we needed to be; not confusing at all. This was good, as it was our group's first cruise, and our first port of call.

We loved it and would definitely recommend it. And ask for Francisco...he did a GREAT job.

What a fantastic tour!

I went on the Mayan Experience while in Costa Maya.

What a fantastic tour! Two of my party backed out at the last minute due to concerns about the tour not being sponsored by Carnival. What a loss for them. From the time I got on the shuttle at the port to the time I returned to the ship, The Native Choice provided a first class experience. David did an excellent job as a guide at the ruins. This was way better than the tour of Tulum I took in November. The traditional lunch was excellent and very delicious. Overall a great experience.

Thanks for a great time.

We were scheduled to go to the Kohunlich Mayan Ruins, but when we arrived we were the only two scheduled for that excursion. We were given the opportunity to stay with the excursion selected or to do the Mayan Experience. We opted for the Mayan Experience and thoroughly enjoyed the excursion. We had Fransisco as our guide. VERY, VERY good, knowledgable and interesting and David did an excellent job of driving us around.

An informative and fun experience.

Just returned from our cruise and still talking about our Mayan Experience. A BIG THANK YOU to our driver, Alex, and our host, Joel, for an informative and fun experience.

My wife was concerned about booking an excursion outside of the cruise line, and a stop in a Mayan Village for lunch. Not anymore!! The service from the port to the office was flawless. The check-in process was fast and easy. We were the first to arrive at the park with a small group and had a great guide, Joel, who was funny, and very knowledgeable in Mayan history and culture. Lunch was the icing on the cake! A GREAT experience!

More than what I was hoping for...

The Mayan Experience through The Native Choice tour group was more than what I was hoping for in my day in Costa Maya. Our tour group guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the mayan culture and ruins. The best part was that he was able to get the information across in an interesting way.

I felt like I learned a lot on the tour yet I did not get bored or feel bogged down with facts. I have been to Tulum and feel that I enjoyed the Chacchoben ruins more. The Chacchoben ruins are less touristy and feel more impressive because they in the middle of the jungle. Some of the Chacchoben ruins remain unexcavated to allow us to see how they looked when they were found.

The lunch at the home of a Mayan family was delicious. Almost all of the ingredients they used were local and some could be seen growing on the property.
