This tour was one for my memory book!

This tour was one for my memory book! I was apprehensive at first thinking I might be bored with ruins, but that was not the case at all due to the knowledgeable and friendly guide, Eliu. Then the lunch experience was equally wonderful. The food was fresh, everything was explained to us, and the hosts were kind enough to perform two Mayan dances at the end! Totally charming!

Great honest service

It is great to tell all about the great excursions that this company gives but I did not get to take mine because our ship could not port. We had paid in full with Pay Pal. As soon as we returned home, I got on the computer to find Native
Choice had already sent a refund. They are very honest. I am looking forward to making the trip at a later date and I will rebook this tour. Thanks for the rapid refund.

Very well pleased by our tour

We were very well pleased by our recent tour of the Chacchoben ruins.

Our guide, Francisco, was a veritable gushing fountain of information about Mayan history, culture, and cosmology. It was about a semester's worth of information crammed into a few hours. He also led the tour expertly, holding the reins on the small group with just the proper degree of looseness, giving us just enough time to do a little individual exploration and picture-taking, while making sure that no one got dropped or delayed the tour.

The tour was everything that we had hoped for and more.

The best on which I have ever been.

I have done many historical tours... from Civil War battlefields to Colorado mining towns to California Redwood Forests. For a tour of this length (about 4 hours), this was the best on which I have ever been. From the bus ride to the Mayan Ruins which were narrated by Ivan Cohuo to the historical walk around the site guided by Eliu… my family was fascinated by the history and knowledge of our guides.

Eliu has a degree Mexican History (emphasis on ancient cultures) from the University of Mexico City. It is obvious he has a love for the history and cultures of his country. All I can say it that he blew us away with his descriptions and knowledge. I wish that we could have spent a couple of days there with him.

Kudos to you and your company Ivan! Well done.

Thank you so much for an incredible day!

Thank you so much for an incredible day! Our tour guide, a terrific woman (whose name I cannot remember- shame on me) was so full of knowledge. She is was part tour guide, part archaeologist and part story-teller. She knew an incredible amount of information about Mayan culture and history. The Chacchoben Ruins are amazing. We did the tour that included lunch in a modern-day Mayan family home- worth every penny! The family was so nice and giving- the food was incredible and all home- made just for us. Our guide stayed with us and knew the family and lives close to them, so she interpreted for us as we asked many questions. It was so interesting to learn how they gather and cook everything from the land they live on. My 9 year old son loved making tortillas with "grandma" and the family had four darling little girls who danced for us. The Mayan's were very generous and we were able to buy a few handmade trinkets from them- much better than the pushy shops in the port. Avoid the port and go on this tour- you will love every minute. Native Choice provides water and restrooms are available at the ruins. There are sodas and snacks for purchase at the ruins as well. About a 45 min. drive from the port to the ruins and another 15 min. to the Mayan family home. Great excursion- thank you Native Choice!

Would recommend most highly.

Fantastic tour! Would recommend most highly. Our family of 5 hates organized tours, especially those sponsored by cruise lines. Native Choice was amazing. Very personalized, intimate, fantastic guide who grew up at Chacchoben. We booked via the web. Van was waiting when we arrived...a perfect day!

We would do it all over again.

We just returned from our vacation and felt compelled to share our experience with Native Choice. This was the first time we have ever booked a tour not associated with the cruise line. And we would do it all over again. We chose the Mayan Experience. From the moment the shuttle picked us up from port in Costa Maya we knew we were in good hands. Our guide Eliu was exceptional. He shared his passion for Maya history and culture. He kept us engaged and was eager to share his knowledge. Following our tour at the Chacchoben ruins we had lunch with a Mayan family. They were gracious and eagerly welcomed us into their home. I would highly recommend Native Choice for anyone who desires an authentic experience and adventure off the beaten path.
