Fabulous in every way

Fantastic! Fabulous! Freaking Amazing!

This tour was fascinating. The tour guide, Ivan, made the ruins and all of Costa Maya come alive and become so much more than just a port stop on a cruise ship. His knowledge and story-telling of both the ruins and the Costa Mayan people and culture were unforgettable.

Further, the visit to his mother's village for a home-cooked meal was beyond delicious and wonderful. The hospitality was so warm and the food was delicious. And we learned about all the spices and ways of cooking, with many of the spices coming right from the garden where we were.

I highly recommend native choice. They make the places become real and warm and friendships are made that you will never forget.

Outstanding tour

Our guide Francisco and driver Erick were both professional and so very good at their jobs.

Francisco was so prepared and knows so much about the Mayan culture. On the trip out to the site he gave us a history of the Maya including maps and pictures. At the site, his passion was evident.

Erick made sure we had a safe journey, and avoided some rather large potholes on the road to the site.
I would recommend Native Choice tours as they are small and well run.

Great tour

We had very good instructions on how to get to the waiting area. We got checked in, and waited about 15 min. For the next small bus. We only had about 10 people, so it was nice.

Our guide was Francisco, who was awesome! Ivan also rode with us and Pedro (I think) was our driver. We had about an hour ride, while Francisco told us a lot about the history of the Mayan people. The ride was cool and comfortable, and they gave us nice cold bottled water. We got to the site and walked past the big groups to a quieter spot where we heard more about the history, and were free to take some pictures before the crowds came. Francisco was very good as keeping our small group away from the big crowds, and it felt much more intimate that way. There was so much more to see then what first appears, and we walked through some beautiful areas. The grounds are gorgeous, well taken care of. Francisco was very passionate about the work that he does, and it shows. He truly cares about the history, and the processes being taken to preserve it. At the end of the tour, we had a few minutes to get some souvenirs, and got back on the bus for the ride back to port. We pulled over and Francisco got us some fresh pineapple that they sell along the road. It was some of the best I've ever tasted!

All in all, it was a great excursion, and I would highly recommend this company over any that the cruise lines will try to sell you for a higher price. Thanks so much for an awesome experience!

Wonderful!

What a wonderful experience. Transportation to the ruins was in a large, comfortably air-conditioned bus.

Our particular guide David Villagomez was very friendly and has a wealth of information about the ruins and also Mayan culture. We enjoyed his company as much as we did the tour and felt honored by the information he relayed to us as well as some pictures he shared. The tour greatly exceeded our expectations and David's wealth of information made for a very enjoyable day.

I would highly recommend this tour. Booking directly with this independent tour operator, (rather than through Norwegian) also saved us some money.

Amazing

For just short 4.5 hr trip, spending 2.5 hr at the ruins, we had a fantastic experience. The ride was comfortable and the guide extremely knowledgeable chatting to us about local history, Mayan history and the differences between the various Mayan ruins found in Central America.

We toured as a small group of 20 and had ample time to explore and take photos. It whetted my appetite to journey to more places.

I would highly recommend touring Chacchoben with Native Choice tours.

INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE

Our tour guide Sr. Fredrico was exceptional and provided us with insight above and beyond that provided by any other tour during our 8 day western Caribbean cruise. I wish I could attach some of the photos that I took. His knowledge and expertise far exceeded all expectations.

We had the BEST tour guide (Angela). She was very attentive to our needs and patient when we spent a little longer time shopping. She was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed having lunch by the water.

Wonderfully memorable visit to Costa Maya.

Joel & Alejandro were our guide and driver in a comfortable van and Joel gave the 8 in our party a brief overview of what our tour would entail.

We got to Chacchoben earlier than the buses and so we were unencumbered by large groups of people. Joel is very knowledgeable and we learned a lot as he took us through the history and customs of his people. Ample water and time were provided to explore thoroughly. We then drove about 20 minutes through some beautiful and unspoiled country side to a small village where we stopped for lunch. The food was all locally grown and prepared by 4 of the sweetest ladies, dressed in their Sunday best dresses. Everyone washed up before being shown how to make tortillas. The lunch was superb and the backyard garden that we ate in was simple, clean and serene.

Mary and I are very grateful to all of the people involved in making a wonderfully memorable visit to Costa Maya. `
