Great Tour of Chacchoben

We were very fortunate to have chosen The Native Choice for this tour. David was our guide and we benefited greatly from his depth of knowledge and insight to the history of the Mayan culture. The ruins are very impressive and worth the trip. This was not a "grab your camera, take some pics and return to the ship" kind of tour. David took the time to explain in detail the complex social and political structure of the Mayans as we explored the site. The trip to the ruins from the cruise dock was quick and comfortable.

Definitely recommended!

Excellent Tour with a Great Guide

This was a great tour and we were fortunate to have Frine as our guide, and to have a small group of only four people plus our guide.

The Native Choice location is easy to find and the van was new and very comfortable. The ride to the ruins was about an hour but it passed quickly as Frine is a font of information on the geography, wildlife, culture, etc. The ruins are very interesting and stretch over a larger area than I expected. The main pyramids are in the 60-80 foot high range. Not massive but very interesting. There is much more to see than indicated by a couple of reviews I had read before booking. We stayed at the ruins for two hours and learned a great deal about the Mayan people and the building of the village and temples, We were delivered promptly back to the port at the advertised time.

Absolutely no hesitation in recommending Native Choice and this tour.

Excellent tour

Many thanks for Francisco for interesting introduction in Mayan culture. Dzibanche Mayan ruins were worth to see!

We also enjoyed mangos, pineapples and applebananas. We happily recommended native choice!

Had a really nice tour!

I would recommend this tour. Our guide Jasmine was very nice and informative. Enjoyed this with my family and it was nice to have Ivan guiding us thru the ruins and sharing his memories of growing up there!!

A GREAT experience!!! Very well done, our group was a total of 8 people all from the Nieuw Amsterdam. I had read tripadvisor tips and I agree this tour group is top notch. I was thrilled to see the very CLEAN, new air conditioned vans, Eddie the driver was very capable.

Our tour guide Andrea was very enjoyable and knowledgeable of the Mayan culture and area. We met up with Ivan at the Chacchoben ruin site, Thank You for a wonderful talk and insight to the the Mayan calender and sharing your passion for the Mayan world. To top off our experience we enjoyed a wonderful Mayan home-cooked meal. We had plenty of time to enjoy ourselves and arrived back to port in PLENTY of time to sail.

I highly recommend this tour and look forward to returning for another tour. Thank You Native Choice!!

South Seas Travel LOVES Native Choice Tours

This is THE BEST Mayan Ruins tour we have ever taken !! Having been to Tulum and Chichen Itza previously, I feel like I learned SO much more with this tour. PLUS having Ivan as our guide made it so memorable for all of us. We had a large group private tour. Ivan shared SO much with us ; including the fact that he grew up in Chacchoben and we even saw his house. This tour flowed so nicely. We had plenty of time in the ruins , Ivan stayed with us every step of the way and talked to us about nature, the ruins , artifacts and history of the area. There was shopping time and we even made stops for pineapple with chili powder from the local ladies on our return.

You certainly do not get this type of tour from the cruise ships. Ivan thanks so much!

Visit to Chacchoban from Costa Maya

This tour was really fit for our purpose as it kept my son (6 year) interested thoughout. We were lucky to have Ivan as tour guide so learned so much about history and site exploration. Ruin itself were kept bare - with very small identifiers. Trip from Costa Maya was smooth on small van and passed quickly with help of Ivan's commentary. Recommend this tour.

I have taken one start off the review - it's not for Native Choice tour, but for the ruin site. There is no local museum to give you idea of findings from site.

Best tour we have ever taken

Joel made our experience memorable. We have taken many tours on our 10+ cruises, and this was the best. He was friendly and knowledgeable, and the day couldn't have been nicer. The meal was good, the ladies delightful, and the driver very helpful and able.
