Great Tour - Cheaper than Disney!!
Great tour with local 23 yr old young man, Erick. He is a Mayan and has great knowledge and stories of the area and Mayan history. We saved money booking through The Native Choice website vs. on the Disney Excursions. It was easy to book and pay with a visa. The Native Choice staff was there to welcome us on the Main Street past the port security station.
They had good signage and cold water waiting for our group of 5 adults and 6 kids. Nice new vans that seat 14 with great AC take you to the ruins. Don't bring a stroller, the walkways are dirt and you have to climb steps at the ruins. Eat on the Ship before you go ashore, you will find little food on the excursion and no places or time to stop and eat. You can buy sodas, chips, ice creams, and crackers at the site. There is only one bathroom there too, so get in line as soon as you get there if needed.
Native Choice gets you there 15 mins before the Disney buses with hundreds of people arrive, so it is nice not to be super crowded. It is hot and very humid, so it could be challenging for older folks. We carried our 4 yr old son a lot and sweated a lot too, but it was a great tour and very interesting.

Our tour was outstanding. Joel, our guide presented the Mayan lifestyle in a very interesting and informative way. The Mayan home that we visited gave a real life feeling of the Mayan way of life. The meal provided at the home was excellent. Visiting Chacchoben ruins in the afternoon after the crowds provided a pleasant and unhurried walk through the ruins.
Overall, it was a worthwhile tour with extremely courteous guide, Joel, and driver, Raul.

Awesome Tour
Easy to find meeting location, nice large air conditioned bus to ruins. Our tour guide was Joel, he is a native Mayan. His enthusiasm, knowledge, and English were perfect. Tour was with a small group of 15 or so people. Joel made sure to stop in shaded areas while he explained the ruins and their significance to the early Mayan people. Lots of time to explore the ruins on our own, to take pictures and to ask questions.
The Mayan village was eye opening. The people are poor but very happy. The meal that they cooked for us was excellent. We had time to explore the village on our own, interact with the locals, and take videos and pictures. The bus stops at a local store to buy refreshments.
All and all, this is an excellent tour and well worth the money.

Best tour ever!
This was the best tour we took while on our cruise.
The guide was very passionate about his heritage and preserving it. Very informative and a great lunch in the Mayan village we visited.
Will definitely do another tour with them.

Exactly the review I wanted to write
Because of weather conditions, we were unable to dock in Costa Maya. Since internet/mobile phone charges from the ship would have cost as much as the tour, we never contacted Native Choice about canceling our excursion. When we got home days later, we found an e-mail informing us that our tour costs were promptly refunded in full.
This is definitely an organization with great integrity.

Best Excursion Ever
We took this excursion with four generations of my family, from my 4 year old grandchildren to my almost 80 year old parents. Everyone absolutely loved the entire excursion!
The ruins were so interesting, thanks to the great tour guides. The lunch with the Mayan family was phenomenal!! The food was delicious. The Mayan ladies were so warm and welcoming. Andrea, our guide, gave us a detailed explanation of the Mayan traditions and meal preparations. We even got to try to make our own tortillas!. By the time we had to leave, we felt that we were leaving dear friends!
If I get a chance to go back to Costa Maya, I would definitely use Native Choice for my excursion.

Booked online and no regrets. Very easy to find from the dock and modern tour bus. Ivan our tour guide gave us so much information and really made us feel welcome.
The ruins are spectacular and would definitely give Native Choice a 5 star rating! Be sure to try the pineapple with chili powder.
