Erick is the best!
I booked this tour on Priceline because it was $20 less expensive per person than the ship. After exiting the ship, leaving the port area and walking to the Native Choice office, my first thought was that I wished I had paid the extra money for convenience. Boy, am I glad that didn’t happen!! Our tour was approx 13 people and we rode in a nice, comfortable coach to the ruin site. Our guide, Erick, was amazing! I enjoyed all the information he was sharing with us while on the bus, but I quickly realized when we got to the ruins site and saw the other groups that had 40+ people in them that we were very fortunate. It was easy to see that Erick was the best guide there. In the free time walking around and taking pictures, I could tell the other guides for those companies didn’t have the knowledge Erick did. Erick was passionate about the history and culture and made our tour amazing. I am thankful we walked a little extra to get to their office. It was well worth it! Plus, they dropped us off very close to the re-entry into the cruise area on arrival. I would highly recommend this tour to anybody!

Eder was our guide and I can not say enough about how great this tour was. This tour was by far my favorite land experience. I felt it was worth every penny paid for it. (You will not be disappointed) My husband and I went with a group of 11 people in a really nice air conditioned Van. Eder knew how to avoid any large crowd and was very knowledgeable about the sight. When we went to the community to have our lunch it was very good and the family was lovely. One woman in our group had been on this excursion 4 times already, returning with friends to have them experience it. I will do the same if I return to Costa Maya.

A wonderfully interesting and informative tour led by our guide, Hugo. His knowledge of Mayan culture, anthropology and history gave us a fascinating look into the Chacchoben Site and the surroundings. Native Choice tours deserves my strongest recommendation!

Learn, relax, enjoy this tour!
Had a wonderful time and felt I was in good hands at all points, from the clear info about getting to their office, to the employees at check-in, to our careful and capable driver Isaac and our helpful, cheerful, understandable, and very knowledgeable guide Edder. Their passenger van was in excellent condition and their attention to our comfort, enjoyment, and safety was first-rate. They planned it so we arrived at Chacchoben before the onslaught of tour buses, so we had the place to ourselves for a while and of course took better pictures! Edder gave us just the right amount of background and history, coming prepared with additional pictures and materials to help us envision the temples and artifacts as they had looked when in use so long ago. There was plenty of time to clamber around and see the ruins. Then we gathered and headed out to the Bacalar Lagoon, a very bumpy ride from the main road (be aware if you can't tolerate that kind of road). Once there, we were treated to a delicious meal (meat choices for most, but my veggies were flavorful and satisfying, as I don't eat meat) of tacos, rice, beans, guacamole, various sauces, and fruit, and choice of beverage(s). I had horchata (rice milk drink) with lunch, but before I left, had a cerveza (beer) Victoria with lime. All included. Many people just relaxed in the beautiful surroundings. I took out a kayak and traveled along the coast for about 40 minutes, then went swimming in the clear water (just a few small fish on the bottom, not like a reef). They had clean changing facilities and restrooms, very nice place. Then back in perfect time, and they dropped us off just outside the port compound. Relaxing, happy day with culture and fun. Totally recommend it!

Fantastic tour
We really enjoyed our tour! Our guide Ivan was so interesting and having been born in the area had many wonderful stories to tell. It was easy to find the office, they were very organized and the tour bus was very clean. Definitely recommend Native Choice for anyone visiting Costa Maya.

Amazing Tour
I had a great experience throughout the whole trip. Our guide was spectacular and I learned so much history. Being able to see places from another culture and to be involved in the culture was great. Our tour guide was losing his voice, but still continued to educate and gave an amazing tour. Eating the fresh fruit, making tortillas, a big lunch, and seeing the history in the land. Overall amazing tour with a great experience. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

We had huego as our tour guide. He was VERY knowledgeable about the history and culture of the Mayan ruins and the Mayan lifestyle. We tried so many different foods: pineapples with jalapeño powder, empanadas, rice, homemade tortillas with homemade salsa, seasoned chicken, leaves with novicane in it (weird but so cool) over all amazing experience learning the culture of the Mayans from the ruins all the way to the food and lifestyle. HIGHLY suggest this excursion!
