Chaccoben Extreme is Excellent!

My family booked the Chaccoben Extreme tour directly with Native Choice. We were impressed with our tour guide, Casey. She provided our group with an extensive knowledge of the mayan ruins and the culture. The tour ended at the Seven Color Lagoon, which was amazing. Definitely book this tour, you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful Combo Excursion

WOW! so happy we booked with the native choice instead of cruise line. Not only was it less expensive but the small group gave us the chance to really get a feel for the culture and history of Costa Maya. The Chacchoben Ruins guide was wonderful, we learned so much on the way to the site and professionally escorted through the Ruins. The added bonus to the Blue Lagoon was exactly what we wanted after walking in the heat. Lunch was prepared and served overlooking a perfect oasis, use of the grounds and tranquil dip in the water made the whole day just perfect. Thank you so very much.

A fascinating tour.

A fabulous tour, our guide Erick, of Mayan background, was knowledgable and able to share the history and culture of Chacchoben and the area well. HE shared much information about the calendars, some of the beliefs, the daily life, and the ruins. The driver was Miguel and he provided wonderful assistance to some of us disabled tourists. We spent an appropriate amount of time at the ruins, just a fascinating day!!

Bad weather

We were really looking forward to this tour! Unfortunately, bad weather prevented our ship from docking. I figured to contact the company when we got home to see about getting our deposit refunded. I did not need to worry. Our funds were already refunded when we got home. If we are able to visit in the future, we will not hesitate to book this tour again.

Very nice

A interesting trec into the jungle. The ruins were not as extensive as some but our tour guide, Joel, made it so much better. (size isn't everything) He took the extra time and made every effort to make it the best it could be. Would recommend both the tour and especially him to anyone interested in such things.

We were very pleased with our tour. Our guide Joel made the experience more personal by sharing his Mayan heritage and the local perspective. He is very knowledgeable and we really appreciated his attention to our questions.

Highlight of the week

Kasi was an excellent tour guide. She is smart, well spoken and knowledgeable. She gave us a great history of the Mayan people of the past and present day. She answered all of our questions as well as sharing stories of her own family, their daily lives and experiences.
The walk from the port, although not terribly far, seemed far due to the high humidity that day. The team of The Native Choice met us outside the office with bottled water for all. They were all very welcoming and gracious. The check in process inside was quick and well organized. The 7 of us were escorted and loaded into our van. Our van was clean, comfortable and well air conditioned.
Our first stop was the ruins. Kasi explained the history of the Chacchoben ruins and the people. We were then able to explore on our own and to climb the steps of the temple. Amazing. Next stop was the Mayan village where we were again graciously welcomed into the home of a family to learn how to make tortillas with the mother, her daughter and daughter-in-law. It was so much fun although none of us were able to make them quite as well as the mother :-) We were then escorted into the dining area where there was a beautifully decorated buffet table set out with white table cloths, fine dishes and food galore for our tasting and dining pleasure. Again amazing, especially to think that all the food we ate was grown by the family and the work that it took them to prepare it.
It was both a fun and interesting day. Again, Kasi was a wonderful tour guide. I would highly recommend this tour.

This young man couldn't have been more cheerful, polite, knowledgeable or gracious during our trip. He really deserves a special commendation for his handling of 6 older than average visitors who practically had to fall into the kayaks. He made us feel appreciated and valued and provided a once-in-a-lifetime experience for some of us. Please acknowledge him in some manner.
