Great Tour

First off our Mayan Experience tour guide, Joel of Mayan decent, was an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of the ancient Mayan culture and of the Mayan families today was top notch. His knowledge of the Mayan ruins at Chacchoben was very enlighten explaining how they lived and why they build the structures. After visiting Chacchoben we went to a Mayan village and visited a local family as they were preparing lunch. Joel explained the interactions of the family structure, their community and how they lived. We were treated to a wonderful lunch that was prepared by the women in the family. The lunch was prepared outdoors in the kitchen area and the cooking was done by a wood burning stove. We had tortillas, chicken, rice, vegetables, and my favorite was the flan. Excellent!
Again, the tour guide, Joel, was wonderful. If you have a chance to book a tour through The Native Choice, ask for Joel. Enjoy, John.

Life and time past.

Best tour ever, our guide and driver were both knowledgeable and helpful. The history about Maya and what is known. We even saw monkey's and a large rodent type animal. Learned about the small village called the pineapple city.

Amazing!!!!!!

What a wonderful experience!!! Our guide and driver Edder and Edgar were so knowledgeable friendly and fun!! The Mayan ruin part was so interesting and just the right amount of time!!! When we arrived at the Lagoon the private chef had prepared a absolutely delicious lunch and the Margaritas were flowing... We had some relaxing down time and took the kayaks out around the Lagoon.... it was a great day perfectly balanced!!!

Wonderful and enlightened

My wife and I were so excited to have a chance to visit the ruins in Chacchoben and this tour did not disappoint. Like the description read we had to make our way out of the port completely and walked about 4 blocks to get to the Native Choice office for check-in. We were greeted by friendly, masked, and helpful agents that helped us get to our tour vehicle quickly and efficiently. They were very well organized and ready with several different tour buses, all new, air-conditioned and easy to enter and exit. Our tour had 10 guests along with the guide and driver making us 12 in the van. I could see the green bracelets on most of the guest given to us by Royal Caribbean to mark us as vaccinated so there was not too much worry about safety on the ride there.
Our guide, Ivan, was so very knowledgeable and gave is history and interesting facts about the state, port, the Mayan people, and Mexico throughout the entire journey there. Our driver also did a great job. Once we arrived and our tour began, Ivan continued to provide an excellent tour with so much information about the ruins and the site. I felt like I was in a "master's class" learning directly from the source of knowledge about something he was so passionate about sharing.
We explored the three main sites of the archeological site, climbed to the second level of the ruins, and explored the 2 temples there. The climb was a bit of work, the steps rather high, but doable. Follow the recommendation to wear quality walking shoes, sunscreen or uv protectove clothing, bug spray, and be prepared to walk, climb, and absorb the history and traditions of this beautiful site.

Awesome day

Erick was an awesome guide. His family stories and the personal history he shared made the trip extra special. Appreciated the cold water bottles provided during the walk. Very interesting area, glad it’s available to tour. The meeting location was a bit hard to find (first getting out of port shops) then walking a few blocks to their office. Well worth the effort!

Truly Amazing Experience

Our family stumbled upon this tour after finding all the Disney tours were full. This turned out to be a huge blessing as this was the best excursion we have taken. We spent the morning touring Chacchoben and the afternoon at the lagoon. The office was a quick walk from the port. Transportation to our tour locations was super comfortable and the tours were amazing. We had an amazing time and hope to return to the area and tour with Native’s Choice again one day!

Excellent Tour

Edder and Miguel were excellent guides and drivers. I recommend this tour.
I felt welcome at the Mayan house and the food the hostesses cooked was great.

David was friendly, personable and very knowledgeable. He had so many interesting stories. He had many travels to support the stories he told. In order to see the monkeys in the woods above we had to climb the ruins, no easy task. He was able to help my wife and I climb the steps, encouraging us all the way.
We were so fortunate to have him as our guide.
