Great Tour

The best. Half the price of the cruise ship excursion and twice the tour. This is by far the best tour you will take. They guide Joel and the driver were so accommodating. They would stop on the way to the ruins and lets us take pics and on the way back. We could ask them anything. Very friendly. I will only use Native Choice tours. Joel and the driver were equally excellent. Thanks

FANTASTIC EXCURSION

Can't rate this company high enough. Would definitely recommend.
We booked after reviews read on Trip Advisor, and so glad we did. Trip was half the cost of the ship excursion.
We chose Mayan Experience Tour with humourous and knowledgable tour guide Eddar, and driver Edger?
Booking was so easy and directions very clear.
Offices are only 10 minute walk from port, bottled water readily available straight away and throughout the day.
Air conditioned mini-bus and we were only small group of 10 so information from Eddar easily heard and understood. Welcomed questions, very helpful.
We even stopped for fresh pineapple with chilli powder(that was a first!) en route.
Meal at Mayan village delicious.
Went out of their way to ensure back at port safely and with plenty of time.
A very enjoyable day

Thanks Rosa and Tacho

We were only two people booked for this tour so we had the wonderful experience of a personalised tour in an airconditioned car with driver Tacho and guide Rosa. Price was one third of the cruise shop cost and we were alone on the site most of the day. Cold water and a lovely sandwich were appreciated extras.
Highly recommend this company.

Great experience all around

Signed up with Native Choice for the Chacchoben Ruins tour based on other reviews. Past 5-star ratings did not let me down. Kasi, the tour guide was very knowledgeable, providing the special twist of Mayan history from the Mayan perspective. Seeing the ruins, as well as landscape coming and going, was great. Also nice was the fact that the tour group was relatively small.

Amazing...simply amazing

I am not one that normally leaves reviews however, this was not the typical shore excursion. I was so impressed by this tour that I wrote down several reminders to myself to give a review when I returned home.

The office is a bit off the beaten path but I don't normally like to follow that path anyway. My wife and I joined two other couples that we are friends with and a fourth couple that we did not know. The eight of us were paired with Kasi, the tour guide and her driver, Miguel. The van we rode in was very nice. Our group is all about trying new things and trying to experience a bit of the culture as we tour. We do this mostly through their food. We asked Kasi if we could stop at some of the small roadside vendors that were selling fresh pineapple which she was more than happy to do. Have you ever put red pepper and salt on your pineapple? Delicious.

We looked at going to other ruins that were closer but I am so glad we decided to make the longer trip to these. Kasi really new her stuff. She did a great job at condensing the Mayan history down to about 2 hours. During which time we were walking and climbing around the site. There was only one other group at the site so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. She was a certified tour guide for that site and was easy to connect with and understand. Kasi spoke English extremely well. .

One of the best things about the Dzibanche ruins is that you are able to climb on the ruins and view the surrounding areas from a hundred feet in the air. Very cool.

Chacchoben experience

We had an excellent tour guide, Joel Perez, for our tour to the Chacchoben Ruins, I think we had 9 people on our tour. Joel was very knowledgeable about the history of the Costa Maya port and the surrounding towns. He was very well versed in his knowledge of Mayan history and the ruins themselves. He encouraged questions and was proud to speak about the Mayans and his origin. That made our tour that much more enjoyable. Our driver, Saul Rodriguez Macias, also acted as a tour guide for the Temples of the Sun and Moon, as Joel was still recovering for a motorcycle accident. Saul was also a very safe driver. I feel we had a much more personal experience and learned much more about the Mayan history and the ruins themselves, by only having 9 people in our group, compared to many more who took the same tour through the ship.

Great Experience

Saul (driver) & Joel (guide) were excellent, professional and very, very knowledgeable. Both of Mayan descent so knew what they were talking about. One of the more enjoyable excursions I took on this cruise. Highly recommend this company and excursion.

A Total Learning Experience

Take the 15-minute walk outside the port to the tour headquarters because you'll end up in a Mercedes van with a small number of other tourists with a native tour guide and careful driver. Maria, our guide, and Carlos, our driver, gave an overview to Maya culture, past and present, and dropped us in the hands of David, an utterly amazingly knowledgeable guide through the ruins. If you are not prepared to walk and climb, I would not recommend the trip but if you are, you will be thoroughly rewarded. Would love to take this tour many times with David.
