Loved it!

So I'm not gonna lie, the day our ship docked it was HOT and humid so at first we thought the walk from the ship to the Native Choice was going to be to much but if you follow the map they send you its really not that bad and the friendly staff has cold water waiting and ready for you when you arrive.
We had Rosa as our tour guide and she was professional, friendly and full of knowledge of the area. The van was nice and cool and roomy as well as clean and felt very safe. Our driver Alejandro did a great job getting us around. We really enjoyed the walk to the ruins. Wear some bug spray under your sun screen and I'd highly recommend ditching the flip flops and wear better walking shoes. I only had flip flops and it was fine but will take better shoes next time to climb the ruins. It was hot but they kept handing us cold bottles of water so it was all good. Keep your eyes out as we saw many mama and baby monkeys playing in the trees and they even came down on the ruins and put on a show for us. Super cute.
We enjoyed the drive through the jungle to the blue lagoon as well as the lunch. It was a bit to windy that day so the water was really rough. No kayaking that day but laying in the hammocks was just as well. Do take water shoes if you plan on getting in as their are large slippery rocks....the water is blue like a pool and warm. It's amazing to see this place after driving in the jungle for 30 minutes. We would for sure use this company again and thought that they were more than friendly and professional. Highlight was stopping at a rode side stand and buying the sweet honey pineapple. Don't be shy, pay the $1 and get a bag...its amazing, it supports the locals and you'll never taste sweeter fruit.

Excellent and Memorable Tour!

I highly recommend the Mayan Experience tour. I was a little hesitant booking this excursion since it wasn't through the cruise line, but I'm so glad we did book with the Native Choice. The Native choice office is about a straight, 4 block walk from the port which wasn't bad at all. The staff at the office were professional and pleasant. They greeted us with bottled water and had our van ready and waiting. Our driver and our tour guide Maria, were very informative and knowledgeable. Maria shared a lot of history about the Mayan culture past and present. We also got to stop at a road side stand and get fresh pineapple. Our tour guide at the ruins, Edder, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Maria then brought us to have lunch in the village where a Mayan family prepared and cooked us a delicious lunch. We had the chance to learn and make tortillas. They were very gracious hosts. The tour from beginning to the end was fantastic. They made sure we got back to board our ship on time. My daughters that are 15 and 8 years old said this was the best excursion and experience they will never forget. This was an amazing tour and I highly recommend it!

Wonderful tour guide - Diego

We had an absolutely wonderful time on this tour. Our guide, Diego, was the best! He was full of great information about the local Maya culture. Highly recommend this tour and especially Diego as our guide.

Excellent Excursion

I couldn't be more pleased with our excursion we booked through Native Choice. Our guide was Edder and our driver was Abel. Edder was so personable and very informative. The tour was small and very educational. We learned a lot about the culture there as well as the ruins. They were so accommodating. We had our 2yo with us. They were offering us cold bottles of water and then at the end of the tour the provided iced washed clothes for us to cool down with. I would definitely use them again if ever in Costa Maya. It is definitely worth the money and you will not be disappointed. We did see other tour groups at the ruins and they were so large and unorganized. Our group was small so it was easy to keep up with everyone and here what Edder was saying. So glad we chose Native Choice and hop you do to!

Awesome!!

I've been on other Mayan tours and they were nothing compared to this. Our tour guide Joel gave a most interactive tour of the ruins. His knowledge of the history of the Mayan ruins and the people was outstanding. Every question our group asked was answered with enthusiasm by Joel. You could tell that he really loved his job and interacting with group he was giving the tour to. The lunch served at the families house was incredible. I have been on a lot of tours both ship sponsored and otherwise and the tour your small company provided my family and me rates at number one. I will gladly recommend your company to family and friends should they get down that way.

Best excursion ever!

Kasi was our excursion guide and we could not have found a better one!! From beginning to end we learned about the Mayan history and culture. The ruins were incredible!! Our driver Alejandro kept us on track and well hydrated. After the ruins we had an authentic lunch with fresh corn tortillas dropped off at our private restaurant. And to top it off we ended at a private beach lagoon with kayaks and rum drinks! This was the best excursion ever!!!

Top-notch Tour

Comfortable van, thoughtful and informative guide (Thanks, Edder!), fascinating commentary and tour at Chacchoben, lovely resort setting for excellent lunch and drinks, fun swimming and lounging on the beach, small groups, personal attention, a well-run operation. If you stop for pineapple, be sure to try it! We'll be back!

Ruins and Blue Lagoon Tour

Our tour guide Edder and our driver Rito were amazing! This is a great tour to book to avoid the large "Cruise Ship" excursions. It was only our group of 6 and another family of 4 in our own air conditioned very new van. Edder made the one hour drive to the ruins very informative as we traveled through 2 small towns, seeing the real Mexico. Our one hour ruin tour was a perfect amount of time as we spent the rest of the day at the charming Blue Lagoon Resort (tucked away on a winding jungle road) for an authentic Mexican lunch, drinks and swimming/kayaking in the beautiful lagoon. Our 4 teenage girls loved the day. I also appreciate the endless cold water bottles the tour provided. (Along with the margaritas, beer and pina coladas at the lagoon!) Very easy walk from the cruise ship and The Native Choice gives VERY detailed directions to getting there.
