Excellent Tour

Tour guide was Kasi and Soul (driver)

The short walk from the port of call was easy. The check-in process was simple and the wait was short. We boarded an air conditioned bus and headed out. Kasi was very knowledgeable about the area and keep our attention until we arrived. The fresh pineapple and spices from the side of the road were amazing!

The ruins were great with lots of shade and we had a great time. This tour was excellent and we would recommend it to all especially families traveling with children.

Superb

We went off the beaten path here. Booking with Native Choice was the right choice for us. The guided tour of the Chacchoben ruins and an opportunity to explore the local culture at the Mayan community villages inland was better than we could have expected. .

The first thing we were told is that the Mayans are not extinct. The culture was altered by invasions of other cultures but the Mayan people are alive and well and living in Belize. They are making every effort to resurrect as many of the old traditions as possible and keep them alive for future generations. What we saw and learned was presented by the community itself and offered an inside look that is rare and very special for just a one day journey. Our guide Joel gave us so much to think about and feel when showing us the ruins. They were very extensive and exposed a view of the realities of Mayan life historically.

The drive into the countryside to the villages laid out the contemporary lifestyle the Mayan people are living. You can’t get that from a short drive around a city. The lunch and quick lesson in cooking local cuisine was fun and our hosts were so kind. The kitchen was old traditional woodstove and gave great flavor to the food. The level of cleanliness and care was impeccable. I wish my kitchen were always that clean and organized. I also wish carnival would give back by hiring this company for their excursions, they did a great job.

What an incredible site

This remote site felt untouched and very well preserved. In fact, there are so many surrounding ruins that are still being excavated! Our guide Erick was great. He gave us a history lesson on the Mayans and was very knowledgeable.

My favorite story he told us was how the Yucatan peninsula was named. The Spanish asked"What is this land called?", to which the Mayans replied "I hear you speaking, but I don't understand you". This sounded to the Spanish like "Yucatan".

Raquel is the best tour guide ever!

We had a wonderful time on this tour. Raquel made everyone's day. She was very informative, entertaining and completely adorable. The ruins were amazing but Raquel's narrative was crucial for understanding the Mayan heritage.

The lakeside lunch and swim was held at a beautiful remote resort area and the unlimited drinks put everyone in a festive mood for the ride back.

This was the best tour we had on our cruise and mainly because of Raquel. Thanks Raquel!!

Best Tour Guide EVER

My family & 2 other families were so lucky to have RAQUEL as our tour guide. She is friendly, extremely knowledgeable and great with kids.

We so thoroughly enjoyed our time at the ruins and afterward for lunch (wonderful!). When we told the kids what we were doing, several of them said "we don't want to learn anything. this is vacation". RAQUEL made the learning so interesting that they all enjoyed their day.

Extra effort

Traveling with my 92-year-old father, who is still spry, our party of four picked Native Choice based on recommendations and its commitment to Mayan people. We arranged a van, walked to the office from the pier and were on our way long before the big tour buses. By being early, we had Chacchoben to ourselves for more than an hour. Our Native choice guide Erick was passionate about his Mayan heritage and knowledgeable about the site and its place in Mayan history. Erick was also engaging and thoughtful and keen to offer additional explanations and interesting sidelights.

A great day made better by a fine and hospitable guide from an excellent organization where quality matters and clients are made to feel like welcome guests.

Best Excursion! A Must Tour!

Everything was just as the website stated.

Joel was our tour guide and did an excellent job. Our bus driver was awesome too. The weather was perfect and the experience was educational and enjoyable. Everyone in our group kept saying how glad they were that they did the tour and how nice it was.

The ruins were awesome! We would like to go back and spend more time there. The bus ride was comfortable (very cold ac) and we got to view a lot of the country side. The ladies that entertained us in their home were awesome and the food was delicious. We will do this tour again through Native Choice when we take our cruise this summer.

My kids are 15 and 17 and they liked the tour, although the zip lining was more enjoyable to them, but for my husband and myself, this was the very best tour of all 4 islands we visited. My sister said the same, who visited at a different time and referred us to the tour. It was a nice and relaxing day.
