A must do!!!

We are so glad we took a chance by not use the ship's excursion and went with The Native Choice instead. Their web sight way under sells the magnitude of this tour. You could literally send the hole day there and not see it all.

Our driver and tour guide were great, very friendly and full of information. It did take 2 hours to get to the sight, but we knew that when we booked it, but it was very comfortable ride and again, so worth it.

Awesome Experience

This was our first visit to experience an awesome history site of the Maya ruins. We learned so much from Kasi who was so knowledgeable about the Mayans. The trip from the ship was well worth the travel time to Dzibanche Maya Ruins.

Kasi, thanks again for sharing so much with us.

Best of the Best!!

Cannot possibly find enough vivid, eloquent words to describe our experience with Erick our guide to Chacchoben. Erick's father worked on the excavation of Chacchoben so Erick actually grew up around the ruins giving him even greater insight to the history and impact of the site. We learned so much not only about the history of the Maya, but also the environment, economy, agriculture, and daily life of the region. I really, really, appreciated the visual and tactile learning aids that Erick continually produced from his magical backpack. Artifacts, maps, pictographs on Mayan paper, illustrations, and of course his amazing white board for all other explanations.

We had a small group (about 12) of all ages so we could ask questions and get clear answers. Abel was our very able ;) van driver getting us safely over and around all bumps in the road.
Booking with The Native Choice is a superb and smart choice!

Don't hesitate to save money and yet support the local economy directly.

Chachobben Ruins

We were extremely pleased with our tour, from the early morning arrival at The Native Choice office, the comfortable Mercedes van, the pleasant guide Maria, and then, the supremely knowledgeable guide at the site, Ivan; and, finally, the wonderful Mayan meal at Victoria's.

Ivan's knowledge and pleasant delivery is unsurpassed in our considerable excursion tour experience. This is a tour everyone should experience. We are so glad we booked with this company instead of with the tour offered on Norwegian's website.

Awesome Day

WOW- what an awesome day.
After a five minute walk to the Native Choice we boarded our mini bus for the tour. Only 8 of us in the bus so we were not crowded. Met our fantastic guide Diego, who was very easy to understand, and Driver Raul. Off to the ruins but first a stop for fresh pineapple from a road side stand. Yum Yum. Arrived at the Chacchoben Ruins and had an excellent tour. We were surprised that there were so many ruins. We expected only one or two, not over a hundred. Diego brought us cold water during the visit- really appreciated it! Then off to a resort for lunch and laying around.

We were very surprised how plush the resort was. The one lane road to the resort was a bit bumpy so we did not expect an outstanding resort overlooking the bay. Had a delicious lunch with drinks. Yum Yum Then off to the water. Laid around and swam. Diego and Raul made sure that our drinks were never empty. Our friend said she felt like Brooke Shields at Blue Lagoon.

The return to the ship was smooth with ample time to board. I would definitely recommend Native Choice and especially Diego and Raul !!!!

Take this tour

We went on a fabulous Mayan ruins tour with guide Edder. 2 hours to the site, 2 hours at the site, and 2 hours back. We learned so much about the Mayans from this knowledgeable and well prepared guide. He loves to teach about the culture, and his enthusiasm shows. This was the best tour of our entire cruise.

Well worth the price

Had a beautiful drive through the countryside to the ruins where our tour guide shared his extensive knowledge of the culture of the Mayans and the ruins.

This was well worth the price. We had a small group which made it easier to hear our guide.

Awesome!

There were 9 of us, 3 teenagers, 5 in our 40-50's and my 85 year old, spry mom on this excursion. My brother booked this and I was a little skeptical since there are so many scams out there. When we got off the ship and walked through a sketchy town, I was really feeling doubtful. Then, when we got to the place, the staff was really friendly and like others have said, gave us cold water bottles and then we drove out to the site. Rose was our tour guide on the bus. She had our driver stop and we got to sample some pineapple with chili powder- She was super! Edger was our driver and the guy who did the actual tour was great too. (It probably took an hour+ to get there) He answered many questions and was very educated about the area and his English was great. The location is beautiful and the ruins were fantastic. There are only a few areas where you can still climb, but that was fine.

We were hoping to see what other excursions they offered at the different ports, because like others have said, the ship offers the same thing but it cost a lot more.
There was also a shop to buy items and clean restrooms.

We all really enjoyed the ruins and took several pictures. It was a highlight of our trip.
