Memorable Experience

From start to finish, this excursion surpassed all our expectations. Like others have mentioned, the walk to The Native Choice building was a bit of a hike, but they provide a map and you can catch a cab, if preferred. The ride to the Mayan Ruins was about 50 min on an air conditioned van, during which time they provide water and lots of information regarding the history and culture. We also stopped to purchase some fresh pineapple from vendors along the way. Maria was our host and she was very knowledgeable and patient and was able to answer any questions regarding the ruins/history. The highlight of the excursion was a Mayan lunch prepared by 4 women in the village. We also got to make our own tortilla. The food was delicious!!
We have a 23 yr old and a 16 yr old and we all agreed that this was by far the best shore excursion during our cruise!! Don't have any reservations about booking outside of the cruise line with The Native Choice, they are very professional and had us back in plenty of time to board the ship. Overall a wonderful experience!

Wonderful Mayan Experience!

WOW! What a wonderful day our family of 10 (including our 4 grandchildren:) had in Costa Maya! We are so happy that we chose the Native Choice Chaccoben Extreme tour...it couldn't have been better!!! Our guide, Kasi, was so friendly and knowledgeable ...she explained the Mayan culture and civilization to us while traveling to the ruins in the very comfortable van, driven by Alex. Alex was always there waiting for us with cold water and a smile! The ruins were amazing but Kasi's explanation of them was even better! We all truly enjoyed our time spent there ...even on an extremely hot day!:). This made our next stop at the Seven Color Lagoon even more welcome! What a beautiful, beautiful resort ...we had a delicious lunch overlooking the gorgeous lagoon and then spent time swimming, kayaking and playing in the crystal clear water. When it was time to go, none of us wanted to leave! Kasi and Alex made sure that we were back to our ship on time ...thank you so much Kasi and Alex and Natve Choice for a Day in Costa Maya that we all will remember always!

Highlight of entire trip

My wife and two teen boys took this tour, hoping to experience some of the local Mexican / Mayan culture and history. We were not disappointed. The tour group was small enough to be manageable, the staff were extremely friendly and readily handed out waters. They knew how to navigate the Chacchoben ruins to make the trip worthwhile. On top of that, a visit to a local village with excellent food and tortilla making was the best.

Kohunlich Ruins Tour

My daughter and I did the Kohunlich Ruins Tour with Erick (guide) and Abner (driver) and we truly enjoyed this tour greatly. Erick was very informative about the Mayan culture and history during the drive to the van. We loved the ruins and the history of the site. Erick did a spectacular job and we would highly recommend. Well done!

A memorable experience

I booked this excursion believing it was through the Carnival. Due to a medical issue on our ship, our itinerary changed. I was quite worried that our adventure would not happen for us due to this change. Thankfully, the company made the adjustments needed for us to participate. Our tour guide, Eddar, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our group was quite small, so we were given extra attention. We visited the Chacchoben ruins first. Eddar presented very interesting facts about the history of the ruins. His sense of humor enhanced our tour throughout the day! The second part of our excursion brought us to a private resort, Lago Bacalar. We were treated to a delicious lunch and then a very relaxing afternoon by the crystal blue lake. We lounged in thatched roofed cabanas, and swam in the beautiful lake. It was a day our family will always remember!

Wonderful day!

From the beginning to end the tour staff were very professional and made sure everyone in our group were accommodated....the vans are air conditioned and bottled water was readily available. Diego was a pleasure to learn the Mayan history from and we enjoyed his enthusiasm during our time together, and the cold cloths at the end of the tour were appreciated too! If I visit the area again, I will be sure to make Native Choice my preferred tour operator!

AMAZING !!!

Our family of 4 took the Mayan Experience tour and while my husband was skeptical at first, by the end of the trip, he was amazed! We all loved it and can't say enough good things about it.
Casey, our guide, was very informative & knowledgable. We never wanted for water the entire tour and having lunch in the Mayan home was something none of us will ever forget.

I can't wait to go back and book another tour with this amazing company!

Excellent!

We booked this tour outside of NCL based on reviews on Trip Advisor. I am so glad we did. This was an excellent tour. The tour office is a short walk from the port, or you can grab a cab for $5. The vans are new and air-conditioned. Our driver, Tico?, was excellent, and the roads were good. Our tour guide, Diego, was the best! He was very knowledgeable, and gave us an interesting and compelling history of the region. He even had the driver stop on our way back to get some local pineapple with chili powder (delicious!). He made sure we were all together, and that we were well taken care of. The lagoon was beautiful, and while not a lot to do other than swim and kayak, it was nice and restful after the ruins. I would highly recommend this company for any tour, and they are much, much more reasonable than booking through the cruise line. They were also very conscientious about getting us back to the port with plenty of time to shop and get back to the ship
