Great Experience

Rosa and Alondra were awesome guides. They taught us about the area in addition to the ruins. Pablo was our driver and he was safety conscious. They all made sure we had water if we needed it. Our comfort and safety were important to them.
Our ship was late getting to port and Native Choice did their best for us to maximize our time on our excursion.
The lagoon was beautiful and secluded. The food and drinks were excellent. It felt like it was our own private resort. It was our family and another family on the excursion, which made the day fun and about us.
The office was easy to find. It was harder to get out of the port village. The people in Majahual were very kind and willing to point us in the right direction.

Awesome experience

This tour was so cool. Even my kids (13 and 18) loved it, and impressing them is no easy feat. The walk to the tour office was a little sketchy, but once we arrived they were waiting to greet us with cold bottles of water, and quickly ushered us into nicely kept air-conditioned Vans for the 50 min drive. Our tour guide Edder was awesome. Not only did he give us a lot of background about the mayan culture, but also the current culture of this part of Mexico. We drove through a town that is known for cultivating pineapples and Ater had our driver Pedro pull over so we could buy some fruit and try it with a local chili powder, as it is served locally. It was the best pineapple I've ever had and the chili powder added an interesting flavor as well. It was a very nice touch for him not only to tell us about the town we were driving through but to pull over and allow us to try their local product as well. At the side of the ruins Edder was amazing. He provided a wealth of knowledge about the ruins and the Mayan culture. On our way back to the bus we ran a crossed several monkeys swinging in the trees and our driver Pedro went out of his way to get the monkeys attention so they would come closer and we could see them better and take video and pictures. It was very hot and humid the day we toured and it was nice that they provided cold washcloths for us to wipe her face is in next after the tour was over. All in all this was a great experience, and I would recommend it to anyone who will be in port at costa maya.

My Favorite Excursion

Of all the excursions we took on our 7 day cruise, this was was, by far, our favorite. After trekking to the Native Choice office, we were greeted with friendly smiles and cold water. We took off in our well-kept and wonderfully air conditioned van with a driver and our guide, Ivan. Ivan was a wealth of knowledge, providing all kinds of information about the land, people, history, and customs of the Mayans and Costa Maya. Our first stop was the ruins; our walk-through with Ivan did not disappoint. He even knew the "traffic patterns" of visitors, which allowed us time for pictures at a pyramid when no other people were around. Next, we returned to the van and Maria took over as our guide. She took us to the village and to the home of a Mayan family, who prepared an AMAZING meal for us. We even got to try our hands at making tortilla the Mayan way! On the way back, we were dropped of close to the ship. Do not hesitate to book this trip, even though it is not part of a cruise excursion. We were impressed beyond measure and would book another excursion with Native Choice in a heartbeat!

Best tour EVER!

I've been on a lot of tours and this was by far the best. Kaci was awesome and very knowledgeable about Mayan culture. We got to see a family of monkeys when we were at the second pyramid they were too cute. Then we went to eat lunch with a Myan family who taught us how to make tortillas. Their yard was beautifully decorated with herbs and fruit trees which they used to prepare our food. The food was delicious and the fresh pineapple juice was unbelievable. If I ever return to Costa Maya I will definitely do this tour again.

Amazing Tour

This tour was fantastic. Our tour guide was Kasi and our driver was Alexander. The drive to the ruins was great the van was comfortable w/AC and plenty of room. On the drive to the ruins Kasi was amazing with all the History she knew and even stopped and bought some amazing local fresh fruit for us. When we got to the ruins the driver gave us cold water and even some bug spray because we had forgotten to bring it. The driver even had umbrellas for us and helped my mom climb down some stairs at the ruins. We then went and had a yummy lunch at the lake. The lake was beautiful, water shoes are required cause it is Rocky. My family wants to go back and stay for a week! Highly recommend this tour company. It was an amazing tour!

Loved it!

So I'm not gonna lie, the day our ship docked it was HOT and humid so at first we thought the walk from the ship to the Native Choice was going to be to much but if you follow the map they send you its really not that bad and the friendly staff has cold water waiting and ready for you when you arrive.
We had Rosa as our tour guide and she was professional, friendly and full of knowledge of the area. The van was nice and cool and roomy as well as clean and felt very safe. Our driver Alejandro did a great job getting us around. We really enjoyed the walk to the ruins. Wear some bug spray under your sun screen and I'd highly recommend ditching the flip flops and wear better walking shoes. I only had flip flops and it was fine but will take better shoes next time to climb the ruins. It was hot but they kept handing us cold bottles of water so it was all good. Keep your eyes out as we saw many mama and baby monkeys playing in the trees and they even came down on the ruins and put on a show for us. Super cute.
We enjoyed the drive through the jungle to the blue lagoon as well as the lunch. It was a bit to windy that day so the water was really rough. No kayaking that day but laying in the hammocks was just as well. Do take water shoes if you plan on getting in as their are large slippery rocks....the water is blue like a pool and warm. It's amazing to see this place after driving in the jungle for 30 minutes. We would for sure use this company again and thought that they were more than friendly and professional. Highlight was stopping at a rode side stand and buying the sweet honey pineapple. Don't be shy, pay the $1 and get a bag...its amazing, it supports the locals and you'll never taste sweeter fruit.

Excellent and Memorable Tour!

I highly recommend the Mayan Experience tour. I was a little hesitant booking this excursion since it wasn't through the cruise line, but I'm so glad we did book with the Native Choice. The Native choice office is about a straight, 4 block walk from the port which wasn't bad at all. The staff at the office were professional and pleasant. They greeted us with bottled water and had our van ready and waiting. Our driver and our tour guide Maria, were very informative and knowledgeable. Maria shared a lot of history about the Mayan culture past and present. We also got to stop at a road side stand and get fresh pineapple. Our tour guide at the ruins, Edder, was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Maria then brought us to have lunch in the village where a Mayan family prepared and cooked us a delicious lunch. We had the chance to learn and make tortillas. They were very gracious hosts. The tour from beginning to the end was fantastic. They made sure we got back to board our ship on time. My daughters that are 15 and 8 years old said this was the best excursion and experience they will never forget. This was an amazing tour and I highly recommend it!
