Our appologies for taking so long to write.

We toured the ruins with David over a year ago and have not once stopped talking about the amazing experience we had. David's knowledge of the ruins as well as the culture and flora and fauna of the region is unparalleled. The small group experience allowed all of us to ask questions and receive answers without fear of getting lost in the babble.

Indeed, there were other guests to the site, from other cruise tours, who started hanging around our small group. With a guide like David you never felt lost in the herd. With a guide like David, you were glad you were "lost" in the jungle, entranced by the remains of a fascinating ancient culture.

We enjoyed our trip so much that we are seriously considering taking another tour with Native Choice on our next Western Caribbean holiday. It speaks volumes that our decision to rebook with Native Choice has less to do with where they take us than it has to do with how they treat their patrons and what we will discover once we get there.

Ivan was our guide to these fascinating Mayan Ruins.
Our transportation to the ruins from the port was very smooth. Ivan drove us to the ruins and en route he gave us a wonderful narration about Costa Maya and it's history. Upon arrival at the ruins we were pleased to see the natural beauty of Chacchoben.

Ivan was very interesting and entertaining. His knowledge of the Mayan culture is outstanding. If you are planning a visit to Costa Maya we highly reccomend you use "The Native Choice" for your touring adventures.

Eliu was our tour guide for the ruins. This experience was incredible!

We saw others on the Carnival tour in much larger groups with no sort of direction being given. Eliu was with our group of 18 and we had a great time. He led us thoughout the site, gave us time to explore, and gave us a LOT of information on the history of the ruins, Mayan people, and possible theories on their mysterious disappearance.

Eliu was very friendly to us--we loved the pineapple town stop! Delicious!!

It was because of this website and all the testimonials that we decided to book our tour with The Native Choice instead of with the cruise ship. We are sooooo glad we did.

Eliu gave us a great informative and personal tour of the Chacchoben ruins. He is very knowledgeable of the land and the Mayan people and answered all of our questions.

My only regret is that we did not go to see the small Fisherman's Village the way it is today. Eliu explained that tourism is changing the area so rapidly. We were a little worried about being dropped there and having another taxi drive us back to the pier.

Sorry Eliu, our loss.

Eliu is a wonderful and knowledgable tour guide. We had the best time with him and the pineapple was delicious!

He speaks excellent English! He even showed us a garlic leaf and an allspice leaf. He knows the area so well.

We spent the second half of our trip with Grisko. He took us to have lunch with a local Mayan family. This was probably my most favorite part of our entire cruise. You should not miss it. It is something special that only 6 of us from the cruise were able to experience. We made tortillas with the family and they even danced for us.

Eliu was our guide. He was very easy to find once we got off the ship. We waited for just a little while for the rest of the group. Eliu had our bus stop & get fresh pineapple w/dried jalapeño pepper to try & it was excellent & such a nice treat!

When we got to the site, he made sure we had bug spray & took a head count every chance he got. He asked everyones names & remembered them!!!! It was a relatively small group compared to the ships tours & much more personal. He had a great sense of humor & presented the information very well. It was a very interesting tour.

We saved money over the ships tour & I think was a much better trip!! Eliu was hard pressed to take a tip at the end of the tour but it was well deserved.
